
According to police a Pennsylvania man is accused of murdering his pregnant wife with a sword on 27 January (Friday) before calling 911 to report about the crime, which he was going to commit.
The Northern York County Regional Police responded to the incident location around 4 p.m. to the 1100 block of Ledge Drive in Jackson Township for a call regarding a domestic incident in which an edged weapon was involved, according to local news.
Police said that John Ziegler III a 35-year-old had called 911 and told the operator that he had struck his wife 25-year-old with a sword. He also said that he was waiting with his son for officers to arrive on scene.
As soon as the police officers arrived at the crime scene Zeigler surrendered peacefully. Officers found the body of Zeigler’s wife on the rear deck of the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene by the police, as was her unborn child. Police recovered a scimitar style sword near the body.
Their 2 year old son was unharmed and released into the custody of York County Children, Youth, and Families.
Later, John Ziegler III was transported to Central Booking to be arraigned on charges of criminal homicide and criminal homicide of an unborn child.
