
Two young parents died of apparent drug overdoses in a Johnstown home about a week ago.
The Associated Press reported, left alone in her bassinet, the couple's infant died three or four days later. Police authorities said five month old Summer Chambers had died of dehydration and starvation.
Jason Chambers 27, and Chelsea Cardaro 19, were found dead along with their five month old girl on Thursday in a home in the Kernville of Johnstown which is about 60 miles from Pittsburgh.
Cambria County District Attorney Kelly Callihan told to reporters that investigators found evidence of drugs inside the home and think couple overdosed on heroin.
County coroner Jeffrey Lees said, the couple had been dead for about a week when they were found Thursday. Chambers was found on the first floor of the home, while Cardaro was in the second floor bathroom. Their daughter was in the second-floor bedroom.
The Police Authorities said that this is not the first time, people have died of drug overdose at home.
Police captain Chad Miller told to the reporters that police were called to the house last month, after Chambers got overdosed.
WJAC-TV reported, that Child welfare officials checked on the infant in December.
"They checked the house, and it was appropriate for a child to live there," Callihan said, according to the Tribune-Democrat. "There was plenty of food and the child seemed well taken care of."
According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in 2014 more than 28,000 people died by overdose of opioids such as heroin and prescription pain relievers. At least half of all the deaths occurred due to opioid overdose.

According to CDC from 2014 to 2015 several states, including North Carolina, Ohio and Pennsylvania, had significant increases in drug-related deaths.
“The family had recently moved to Pennsylvania from New York”. Miller said.
"It is an unfortunate incident where they both possibly overdosed at the same time and being so far out of the town and not having anybody around them. It was too long for anybody to notice that they were missing."
James Grant, a friend of the couple, found them dead Thursday afternoon.
"It was so hard going into their home and being the one to see them dead, but it still kind of does not seem real," Grant told WJAC-TV.
