The Jungle Book has entered Rs.100 crore Indian club with ten days of release. It is a modern take on a timeless classic of Rudyard Kipling, published in 1894.

Jon Favreau’s 3D live-animation adventure fantasy film made its way on 8 April onto Indian screens. It was released one week ahead of its US release. As of first ten days, its collections at the Indian box office are Rs.101.82 crore.

Disney India studios vice president Amrita Pandey told IANS that, “We are thrilled with the exceptional response to The Jungle Book in India! It is a timeless tale and we are happy that it continues to inspire, awe and mesmerise generation after generation.”

“The Hindi, Tamil and Telugu versions have been so appreciated and that is very special for us. ‘The Jungle Book’ is a legacy and we are humbled that families across India have contributed to taking this legacy forward and embracing Mowgli’s latest adventure with such affection,” Pandey added.

“The Jungle Book” is released in four languages in India including Hindi, English, Tamil and Telugu. The fantasy film stars Neel Sethi, an Indian-American actor, as Mowgli. Bollywood stars Priyanka Chopra, Irrfan Khan, Nana Patekar, Om Puri and Shefali Shah have lent their voices in The Jungle Book’s Hindi version.
